  One of our favourite restaurants in Melbourne. This place has never failed us everytime we visit. Fresh local produce everytome. The food is just amazing, the atmosphere is just perfect. Still to us one of the best dining experiences. Great wine list too.

  The food at Mercato is delicious and the setting is very comfortable and quiet. We are however very disappointed with our experience due to a couple of reasons. On Saturday and Sunday nights the restaurant only offers a 2 or 3 course service at a fixed price. We were not told this at the time of making the reservation, nor did the waiter mention this when we ordered only a main meal each, nor did they mention it when we were offered dessert. It was only when we went to pay the bill did we query why we had been charged a 2 course fixed price for our meals did a staff member mention the set menu on Saturday and Sunday nights. We then felt obliged to eat a dessert as we felt completely ripped off.
  This is without question completely unacceptable. The restaurant employees were given multiple opportunities to draw our attention to the fixed price menu however they did not. Unfortunately this tainted the experience and left us feeling deceived and as such we will not return.

  Excellent food. However, the nice experience ended when we were served our tea and coffee after we've already finished dessert then asked to pay the bill and head to the counter 2 minutes later - we haven't had the chance to take a decent sip of the hot drinks yet!
  I understand the rush on a Saturday night but if the restaurant is having problems serving courses / items in time then we shouldn't be kicked out like this.
  There are plenty of other nice places in Daylesford to go to next time we're here!
